One of the questions we hear often in our Secret Garden shop is "Which is better: the Shea Butter, Glycerin, or Goat's Milk Lavender Soap?" Well it all depends on your skin type, your skin care preferences and what you're hoping to get out of using the product! We chose to offer all three soap bases because they each offer different benefits and cater to unique skin types. There is some overlap in the benefits of each base but individual skin types might have a strong preference! Whether your choice is based on your skin type, your lather preferences, environmental factors or something else, we want to give you the power to choose! Because frankly, we couldn't decide on just one... GlycerinGlycerin is derived from plant-based oils and naturally occurs in fermented goods. This base is vegan and environmentally friendly! Glycerin soap is great for dry skin without leaving behind greasy residue. This soap is often recommended for drying conditions like acne, eczema, psoriasis and rosacea because it often works well on sensitive skin. Read more about glycerin HERE! Goat's MilkGoat's milk soap is creamier than your average bar of soap. Its packed full of natural fats and nutrients! Saturated fats provide lots of lather while unsaturated fats moisturize the skin. Goat's milk soap is gentle and moisturizing - great for those struggling with skin conditions! It can also act as a natural exfoliant and help maintain your skin's natural microbiome! Rich in consistency and ultra moisturizing, shea butter soap is easily absorbed into the skin. It offers a small amount of UV protection and can prevent weather damage. Shea butter is great for after-sun care and provides vitamins A and E. It is also known to be rich in fatty acids and plant sterol which have natural healing properties! Read more about shea butter HERE! The Bottom Line...Use our Lavender Glycerin Soap if you have sensitive skin and/or are looking to control oil without drying out your skin. Use our Lavender Goat's Milk Soap if you want something with a great lather and/or you're looking to naturally balance the skin's nutrients and moisture. Use our Lavender Shea Butter Soap if you suffer from dry skin or drying conditions and/or you're looking for natural vitamins and weather protection. And finally, always patch test your new skin care products! If you're unsure of how your skin will like your new soap, try it on a small area on the upper forearm and wait 24 hours before applying more widely. Andrea G.
