March 2023: Clarity
As a Health Educator specializing in Foot Zone Therapy, Cranial Sacral Therapy, and Esoteric Healing I am always looking for quick and affordable ways to keep my internal and external health glowing. In these times of unease and anxiety I am excited to share with you what’s growing at the Brys Secret Garden.Did you know that peppermint, sage, and lemon balm are grown at the Secret Garden in addition to over 6,000 lavender plants? These herbs can have tremendous benefits to our overall health. You may be aware of the benefits of teas and essential oils, but many people are less familiar with that of hydrosol. Hydrosol is the byproduct water solution created from the steam distillation process used to make essential oils. To learn more about hydrosol, visit the Secret Garden website or check out Suzanne Catty’s book, Hydrosols: The Next Aromatherapy.
There are many ways to utilize the benefits of hydrosols. These include spritzing the head, face and chest area while breathing deeply. Its light and uplifting aroma may help you feel calm and refreshed. Also try spritzing your hands and the bottom of your feet as these areas are connected to all the major regions of the body. Finally, hydrosol can be used in place of a carrier oil, and it has many of the same benefits of essential oils. I enjoy making my own blends using Secret Garden Hydrosols and Essential Oils. Each month, I will be sharing new hydrosol recipes – stay tuned!
During the month of March, we will be highlighting Lemon Balm or Melissa officinalis. Lemon balm is an herb from the mint family and its essential oil can be hard to find and very expensive. Lemon balm hydrosol is a great alternative that is more affordable and still provides amazing benefits! I use my lemon balm hydrosol to freshen the air in my home and lighten my attitude when I feel stressed. Lemon balm also helps promote a good night’s sleep. In my experience, lemon balm brings out gentle characteristics in a person; it is calming and uplifting may help balance emotions. Fun fact: Lemon balm was the main ingredient in Carmelite water, an herbal spirit distilled in France since 1611 by the Carmelite monks. Test our various blends of hydrosol and essential oil to see what you like the best! See below for one of my favorite Secret Garden Lemon Balm Hydrosol recipes.
I look forward to sharing more about these amazing products in the months to come. Get creative with hydrosol and have fun!
Happy springtime!

April 2023: Brain Strength
It’s likely you’ve experienced brain fog at some point in time and for some this can be a debilitating issue. For the month of April, I’ve created a hydrosol spritzing recipe called “Brain Strength” with brain fog in mind!
Brain fog can be a symptom of a variety of issues and exposures. For some people, exposure to synthetic petrochemicals in food, skin and hair care products, and heavy chemical laden air can increase the likelihood of brain fog. This month’s Hydrosol Spritz recipe may provide the relief you’ve been waiting for! This “Brain Strength” recipe may increase mental potential, provide clarity, strengthen immune function, and, with long-term use, it may slow down the aging process.
Lemon balm hydrosol is a great base for this blend as it is known to reduce anxiety and stress by stabilizing your mood. Along with these recommendations, I also recommend a healthy well-balanced diet of whole, fresh foods and spending time outside in nature. The Secret Garden is a great space to reflect and take in nature. I’m looking forward to this season’s opening day on May 26th!
Happy Spritzing!!

May 2023: inspiration of inner woman
In May we celebrate our mothers! In honor of Mother’s Day, this month I’m sharing a Hydrosol Spritz Recipe called “Inspiration of Inner Woman”.
This blend is intended to assist in meditation and inspiration. The root of the word “inspire” means “in spirit” so spritz this blend whenever you desire a sense of calm, peace, and a quieting of the nerves. This blend may also help with headaches and cramping due to PMS and menopause. Embrace your inner woman and enjoy peace, harmony, gratitude, and above all, love for yourself and others.

June 2023: Summer at the Secret Garden
When I think of a recipe that represents summer at the Secret Garden I think uplifting, energizing, refreshing, playful, joyful, and invigorating! I believe the best way to begin is to start with Peppermint Hydrosol - which by itself has numerous benefits.
I find I experience a peaceful lift that settles my emotions and brings a smile to my face when using this particular blend - similar to how we hope you'll feel while visiting the Secret Garden yourself.
This blend may help improve circulation, immune function, and fluid retention, and be used as a decongestant for sinuses, lungs, allergies, colds, and respiratory infections. During these summer months, spritz your legs, pants, and head before a walk to repel insects like fleas, ticks, lice, and mosquitos.
Enjoy your experience with this wonderful hydrosol blend.

July & August 2023: Bug Off!
When the bugs are biting, crawling, and buzzing try this hydrosol spritz recipe called “Bug Off”. Mist this natural repellant on pant legs, ankles, back of the knees, neck, head, hands, and clothing before a walk outside. Be careful to keep mist away from your eye as it will sting. This blend contains powerful essential oils like tea tree and eucalyptus that provide a variety of benefits for the mind and body. “Bug Off” may also help with minor respiratory infections, allergies, congestion, headaches, sore muscles, intestinal problems, and viral infections. The eucalyptus in the blend has been used as a disinfectant to cover wounds.
Eucalyptus trees have been used as medicinal tools for centuries. They are used in North Africa to stop the spread of malaria. Additionally, a 2% solution of eucalyptus oil can kill up to 70% of airborne staph bacteria according to medical doctor and aromatherapy practitioner Jean Valnet, M.D.
Use “Bug Off” anytime of the year to help your family stay safe and healthy.

September 2023: Fall at the Secret Garden
Baking with cinnamon, clove, and orange in the fall fills any kitchen with mouth-watering aromas. Did you know cinnamon and clove essential oils are also extremely powerful for fighting a large spectrum of infections. Both assist the body as they are antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal. Diffuse essential oils, rub them on the bottom of feet with a carrier oil, or follow one of my Hydrosol Spritz recipes and mist your head, feet, and hands for a simple and easy use. This month’s recipe freshens up and disinfects any room in your home. Use during flu season and enjoy the aromatherapy benefits. Clove and cinnamon hold many more benefits so do you own research to learn what matters most to you. Happy spritzing!
October 2023: Sleep Eze
We all know what a blessing it is to get a good night’s sleep. It works wonders for our emotional, physical, mental, spiritual wellbeing. Research shows that a good night’s sleep helps our nervous system recover and cope with anxiety and stress. Sleep can also have an impact on your metabolism along with nutrition and exercise.
The seven essential oils in this month’s recipe are beneficial for sleep and wellbeing. They are antiviral, antibacterial, antitumoral, antispasmodic, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory. In addition, I love how these oils may assist with balancing male and female energies. Doing so can move one closer to spiritual intonation and allowing greater focus of thoughts filtering out the ever-present negative frequencies. Happy spritzing!

November 2023: Let Go, Let God
When I think of Heaven and Earth, I think of Frankincense and Myrrh. This month’s recipe is about quieting the body and mind to let go of whatever does not serve your greater good. In addition to the spiritual benefits, this blend offers antiseptic properties that assist our immune system to rid our bodies of infection. Other uses may be to reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure, ease digestive problems, and sooth sore throats. This blend promotes an overall positive sense of wellbeing.
Remember to spritz the air when you need to sterilize your space. Letting go of things that do not serve your wellbeing will allow for more clarity and a calmer mind and spirit. As I practice letting go and letting God guide me, I search for peace to help me have hope, faith, and above all love for myself and others. Happy Spritzing!
