Tucked beneath the vineyard hills of Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City, Michigan, the Secret Garden at Brys Estate is a hidden 12-acre oasis centered around lavender, flowers, and the beauty of Northern Michigan.
Inspired by travels through the French countryside, founders Walt and Eileen Brys envisioned creating a peaceful garden experience where lavender could grow alongside the family’s vineyards. After planting a small test crop in 2013, the idea quickly blossomed into a thriving destination featuring thousands of lavender plants, perennial gardens, walking paths, and a garden-inspired gift shop.
Today, the Secret Garden offers thoughtfully crafted lavender products for bath, body, kitchen, and home - all inspired by the calming spirit of the property. Guests can also enjoy lavender treats, garden views, and Brys Estate wines grown on the surrounding estate vineyards.
The Secret Garden is part of the 155-acre Brys Estate, a family-owned farm with deep agricultural roots on Old Mission Peninsula. What was once cherry and apple orchard land has been transformed into vineyards and gardens that celebrate both the region’s farming heritage and its natural beauty.
Lovingly cared for by Walt and Eileen, their daughter Katie, and the Brys team, the Secret Garden continues to offer a peaceful retreat where agriculture, hospitality, and lavender come together.
