Benefits of Using Bath Salts

We all enjoy a good soak in the tub from time to time and adding bath salts can make it even more enjoyable. But should we be taking baths more often? Well, tub-lovers, we have good news for you! There are several benefits of taking a hot soak and even more if you add in bath salts!
Picture
Humans have been taking baths for centuries and many cultures believe them to have medicinal value. From Japanese onsen (traditional bathing in hot springs), to Roman bath houses and even baptisms, bath-time can be very important to your health.  So why not treat yourself? Although baths alone hold a lot of benefits such as relaxing muscles, reducing blood pressure and improving your mood, adding bath salts can add even more amazing benefits.
,The main ingredient in any bath salt is of course the salt! Scientifically, it's named "sodium chloride" but is better known as table salt. This chemical compound has a multitude of uses, benefits and varieties. The salt you sprinkled on your dinner last night is processed to ensure it's clean and safe for consumption, while natural bath salts remain raw to keep the mineral content intact and maximize health benefits. At the Secret Garden, we have two types of bath salts available: Pink Himalayan and Black Dead Sea. Both have unique compositions and health benefits that we love to provide for our customers! Benefits include: aiding water balance of skin, stabilizing pH of blood and cleansing and degreasing skin by removing dead skin cells and excess oil without stripping the skin of its natural, hydrating oil.

Pink Himalayan Salt

Picture
This salt is widely known for its attractive color and variety of holistic health benefits due to its high concentration of minerals. Pink Himalayan Salt can only be found thousands of feet under the Himalayan Mountains in the remains of salt fields created from ancient oceans millions of years ago. The salt was encased in lava and ice and therefore untouched for centuries. Today, it is considered to be some of the cleanest and purest salt available and is used worldwide. Unlike commercial salts, this salt is unbleached, unrefined and unprocessed. The pink, sometimes orange, color is naturally created by the combination of trace minerals (listed below) found in this particular variety of salt. No dyes or unnatural additives are added to our bath salts.
Mineral Ingredients
  • Potassium: Replenishes moisture, reduced puffy skin and decreases water retention
  • Magnesium: Promotes cell metabolism, eases inflammation, soothes damaged skin and protects skin from microbes that cause allergies
  • Iron: Helps heal wounds by oxidizing blood and promotes healthy skin growth
  • Calcium: regulates natural oil levels, promotes cell renewal, hydrates skin and smooth wrinkles and lines

Black Dead Sea Salts

Picture
Although not as colorful as Pink Himalayan Bath Salt, Black Dead Sea Bath Salts hold many sought-after health benefits. As a natural way to treat many skin problems, these silky salts are infused with Binchotan White Charcoal. This special kind of charcoal is traditionally made from Japanese oak branches burned at a high temperature with little oxygen for a long period of time. The salt itself is gathered exclusively from the Dead Sea which is situated in the Middle East, between Israel and Jordan. This unique body of water is 9.6 times saltier than the ocean and contains one of the highest concentrations of salt and other minerals on Earth. Dead Sea Salt is recommended to treat acne, psoriasis, eczema and even arthritis. Combining this with the Binchotan White Charcoal, creates the ultimate detoxifying blend.
Mineral Ingredients:
  • Magnesium: Promotes cell metabolism, eases inflammation, soothes damaged skin and protects skin from microbes that cause allergies
  • Calcium: Regulates natural oil levels, promotes cell renewal, hydrates skin and smooths wrinkles and lines
  • Bromide: Relieves muscle cramps, calms inflamed nerves and revitalizes dull complexions
  • Potassium: Replenishes moisture, reduces puffy skin and decreases water retention
  • Iodine: Fades scars, regulates hydration and can help treat acne/prevent breakouts
  • Zinc: Controls inflammation, prevents breakouts and relieves dandruff and itchy scalps

So next time you're feeling the need for some whole-body pampering, take the time to treat yourself to a salty, mineral-packed bath. You deserve it! Overall, if you're looking for general skin rejuvenation, we'd recommend our Lavender Pink Himalayan Bath Salt. If you want to detox and reduce inflammation, we think you should give our Lavender & Black Dead Sea Bath Salts a try. And we encourage you to dive deeper and do your own research to find what works best for you! Happy soaking!

It's interesting that bathing with bath salt help balance your pH and will maintain the skin from free from greases. I been wanting to fill up my bathtub one day and just lay down and relax because of the stress I've accumulated. Maybe adding some bomb salts will also help my body to hydrate and get rid of all the dead skin. I'll be sure to get some other natural products and take a day off from the busy world.

It's awesome that you mention that bath salts can increase the enjoyment that you get from bathing. I want to start taking a relaxing soak in the tub every day after work, so I'm thinking about buying some bath salts. I'm going to see if I can find a good business that can sell me some bath salts.

I loved how you mentioned that it can remove dead skin cells! My sister was telling me last night about how she has been thinking about finding more products to use that can make her skin softer, and she was wondering what products she should use. I'll make sure to pass this information along to her so that she can look into trying bath salts!
