I hope this letter finds all of you well! Thank you, thank you for all your love, kindness and support these past five years! These last couple of years have been challenging in many different ways. However, I think it is hope that always helps see us through the difficult times. I find renewed hope each morning as I enjoy the wonder of the sunrise out my window. The sunrise gives me something to smile about. A new day has begun and it has the possibility of so many wonderful things. (I have included a photo of the sunrises at Brys). Difficulties and trials are always going to be part of our lives, but if we think positive, they can be great life lessons. You can almost always find a silver lining if you take the time!
As we embark on a new chapter since the pandemic, I am sure you have found many of the prices for your everyday essentials going up. At the Secret Garden, we have been working hard and have bought items in advance in preparation for this new season. The good news is that we will not have to raise the prices on our very popular aromatherapy body products this year! In order to accomplish this, we had to make a change to the packaging of our 8 oz Lavender Hand Soap and 8 oz Lavender Hand and Body Lotion from glass to recyclable plastic. I am not sure if you are aware, but there is currently a worldwide glass shortage. We had a surplus of glass bottles in our warehouse in preparation for this shortage, but thanks to you, our sales exceeded what we had planned for. In addition to the shortage, there has also been a very large price increase, not only for glass but also for plastic. The winery has also had a difficult time getting all the glass bottles they need. We did some research and found a recyclable plastic bottle which is the same plastic that we use for our shower gel and room spray. This quality plastic is good for preserving essential oils. Our goal is to keep from raising our prices for as long as possible. During these times of rising prices, our “silver lining” is that we will be passing the small savings on to you for the 8 oz Lavender Hand Soap and 8 oz Lavender Hand & Body Lotion due to the lower cost of plastic versus glass, as well as the slightly lower cost of shipping these lighter weight bottles.
Finally, we have some exciting new items coming out this year! I had been working on a new product line, prior to the pandemic, called “Botanical Vine”. The release was delayed due to the pandemic and constantly changing circumstances. The idea was inspired by a Forbes Magazine reporter who visited with us in the Secret Garden. She travels the globe visiting wineries and she made a stop at Brys Estate. She was impressed by what we had to offer guests. She told me she did not think there was any other winery in the country distilling essential oils and making wine on the same estate. Her comment gave me food for thought and I began to think about how to combine our wine, essential oils and popular body products to create an aromatherapy experience like no other. You may have heard that the antioxidant called Reservatrol, which is found in wine, is good for the skin. To that, add our distilled essential oils and our very popular body products, and you have a win-win for your skin! Thus, “Botanical Vine” was created! We will be launching these new products in June and are so excited! Look for these three scents - Lavender Rosé, Sage and Chardonnay, and Peppermint Pinot Noir. In addition, we will introduce a new lip balm and an aromatherapy essential oil roller called “Hangover”. It is made up of lavender, peppermint, lemon and grapefruit essential oils. This is a great remedy to apply to the temples, behind the ears and the inside wrists to give you some “morning after” comfort! We will also be introducing our newly enhanced Lavender & Cherry Pit Neck Cozy. This new cherry pit neck cozy will have two removable inserts – one on each end. The cherry pits were soaked with lavender essential oil and dried. We then sew them into the two removable inserts. When you want to refresh the scent of the essential oils, simply remove the inserts and sprinkle your favorite Secret Garden essential oils directly onto them. Scrunch a few times, insert back into the washable cover and warm in your microwave according to package directions.
